History
Founded in 2007, the Miss Romania US™ Pageant is the premier event in Romanian American community and plans to be the longest running Romanian American pageant in the United States. Since its inception, the Miss  Romania US™ Pageant has been a platform for the growth and inspiration of young Romanian American women but also as a path towards building a stronger community for Romanian Americans, as well.

It is a festival of beauty where Romanian-American women around the US embrace, a concept that advances and supports a better image for today’s American Woman. This concept aims to increase women’s contributions to the international arena by improving self-esteem, helping women define higher goals while promoting Romanian culture into American society. Miss Romania US™ gives back to the society through charity work and receives much appreciated help from the winner of the Pageant, who, during her year long reign, devotes her time to helping others in need.

Q&A

The Miss Romania US™ competition begun it’s journey in 2007 in Chicago, Illinois and it’s the first and only acredited beauty competition in the Romanian Community in the United States.

Are the events held in a different place each year?
The first two events will be held in Chicago, Illinois. Starting in 2009 the event will take place in a different state every year.

How many women compete?
Miss Romania US™ goal is to have each year one contestant from each US state where there is an important number of Romanian population.

Are there age any requirements that the contestants must meet?
Yes. As of 2008, Miss Romania US™ contestants must be at least 18 years of age and under 25 years of age by June 1st in the year they compete in the competition.

May a contestant compete more than once?
Miss Romania US™ goes on to represent the Romanian-American women in Miss Diaspora Pageant in Romania. Contestants may not compete more than once at the US Final.

Are contestants required to have a coach?
No. While some feel more prepared when they work with an experienced person who can give them tips on competition, many women have won titles without any outside training.

Can contestants be married?

No. Contestants may not be married or pregnant. They must not have ever been married, not had a marriage annulled nor given birth to a child. The titleholders are also required to remain single throughout their reign.

How do the contestants get to the Miss Romania US™ competition and then to Miss Diaspora Romania?
For Miss Romania US™ some states have preliminary competitions with the participation of one or more Miss Romania US™ Producers. State winners go on to the Final competition.
In the case of the Miss Diaspora Romania, the Miss Romania US™ and the Miss Diaspora Romania-USA goes on to represent the United States at Miss Diaspora, Romania.

How are the finalists chosen?
All contestants are judged in four areas of preliminary competition:
1. Interviews - Judges spend time with each delegate to learn about her successes, goals and ambitions.
2. Swimsuit Competition - Each delegate wears one of a variety of swimsuit styles provided by a sponsor.
3. Evening Gown Competition - Each delegate wears a gown she has chosen for herself.
4. Talent

All scores are entered into a computer and are then tallied in each of the three categories. The contestants with the highest aggregate scores are named the finalists. The competition is narrowed twice more to produce the winner.

How are the Miss Romania US™ and Miss Diaspora Romania-USA chosen?
Once the finalists are named, their scores are discarded, and they begin competing anew. In the final competition, the same three areas are judged. The judges' scores in these categories are tallied and the winners are named on the stage in front of the audience.

What prizes do the winners receive?
Each Titleholder is awarded cash and prizes from the event's official sponsors.

What happens to the winners after they are named?
The Miss Romania US™ titleholder becomes the image of Miss Romania US™ and Radio 27 Online for one year.  The winners are provided with accommodation and travel the country speaking on behalf of the company, meeting personalities with charitable organizations and appearing at events held by official sponsors.
